This week’s spotlight features upcoming events on Amelia Island and how to do them like the locals do…Island-Style!

First up, don’t miss out on the Amelia Island Tasting Tours. Taste your way through Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach on this 2.5 hour walking food tour. Guests of the Residence Inn Amelia Island hotel will also enjoy some fun with the locals this weekend! Friday night we’ll be hosting a Happy Hour Cookout featuring Homemade Sangria (for a small fee) & Pulled Pork Sliders. Our Turtle Talk & Beach Walk by Lauri starts at 7:30pm with a short film about our native sea turtles then we’ll head to the beach to look for marked nesting sites and discuss how & when the eggs will hatch. Our guests will also have a blast at The Residence Inn Amelia Island Family Fun Day with hot dogs, sno-cones, popcorn & more on Saturday!

For the athletes out there we’ve got a real treat for you…if you’re into the Triathlon thing! The JAX Olympic & Sprint Triathlon will be held on Main Beach this Saturday from 7:30am – 10:30am. Next week (Thursday), Amelia Island visitors and locals are in for a real treat! Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen and Intuition Ale Works will be throwing an event like none other…Southern-Style! Picture this: Foie Gras Drop Biscuits, Beer, Pimento Cheese Gnudi, Beer, Smoked Crispy Pig Head, Beer, Pulled Smoked Alligator Ribs, Beer, Caramelized White Chocolate Cake, Beer….did I mention BEER? There will be an early sitting at 6pm and a late sitting at 8:30pm.
