If you are bringing the family down to Amelia Island this summer, May is the perfect time to enjoy our little island! The first weekend of the month will be very fun, as it is the annual Isle of 8 Flags Shrimp Festival. On May 3rd enjoy the Shrimp Festival Pirate Parade, sponsored by the Residence Inn Amelia Island. We will even have our own float that guests will be invited to ride on and participate in the parade! Then throughout the weekend, enjoy the vast array of art, music, and delicious food at the festival. The historic district will also be hosting the monthly Sounds on Centre, a free concert with amazing musicians all in the quaint area between Front and 2nd street. This event always features a great band and lots of fun for the whole family. The last three Saturdays of the month will feature our weekly Fernandina Beach Farmer’s Market with local favorite vendors Minorcan Datil Pepper, An-Believable Egg Rolls, Sweet Grass Dairy, Steephill Maple Syrup, Log Cabin Citrus, Olive My Pickle, Gabriela’s Tamales, PC Fresh Herbs, Clean Ridge Soap, Deep Roots Meat, and Proper Pie, along with live music, beautiful flowers and shrubs, and other fun activities. May 18th-20th will feature the annual Wild Amelia Nature Festival, a great way to explore the natural beauty of Amelia Island. The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival commences in May as well, with concerts throughout the month presented to  bring awareness and appreciation of classic chamber music. Call Residence Inn Amelia Island today and book your stay with us during May, there will be something for everyone!
