Here on Amelia Island every day is a celebration but this weekend, we celebrate our Independence!

Amelia Island Florida Hotel

If you’re coming to Amelia Island Florida for the Fourth of July, you’ll have plenty of events to help you relax, unwind and party!

Start the holiday off with the Sounds on Centre Concert Series featuring Spice and the Po Boys, a New Orleans style band. Their soulful sound is bluesy with a touch of R&B and Rock/Pop. Admission is FREE! The band will play on Friday night (July 3rd) from 6pm-8pm in Downtown Fernandina Beach.

Or if you want to learn more about our native sea turtles, join our Fernandina Beach Hotel for a short film and talk about our native sea turtles in the David Yulee meeting room at The Residence Inn on Amelia Island.  After the turtle talk, we’ll head to the beach to look for marked nesting sites and discuss how & when the eggs will hatch. This event begins at 7:30pm on Friday evening and is FREE to guests!

If you like to stay active, even on vacation, you’ll want to check out the Firecracker 5k that will start and finish at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Racquet Park. The race will kick-off at 8am Saturday morning (July 4th) and a Kids Fun Run starts at 9am. Pre-registered runners will get a free race shirt and the top winners will receive an award.

Yoga lovers rejoice! Stay strong during your stay with yoga practice on Saturday (July 4th) at 8am. Guided by Jen Schoening of Rejen Retreats, this zen workout is suitable for ages 15+ and all levels of experience. If weather permits, sessions will take place on the beach! Yoga mats and citrus water will be provided. Did I mention that this is FREE to our guests? The Residence Inn on Amelia Island believes that to play hard, you must work hard and stay healthy. Namaste.

In the mood to shop this weekend?  Join our local growers and farmers at the Fernandina Beach Farmers Market! This Saturday in Historic Downtown Fernandina from 9am – 1pm, join the locals, purchase homemade goods and get the freshest produce the island has to offer. Then make your way through over 50 blocks of unique shops & boutiques, eclectic dining and historic sites.

The Residence Inn on Amelia Island will also be hosting a Family Fun Day, Saturday (July 4th) from 1pm – 3pm on our Tides Terrace. Guests will enjoy grilled hot dogs (until 2pm), chips, sno-cones & freshly popped popcorn! Then, relax by our pool, take a stroll on the greenway or get your feet sandy at the beach. If you’re in the mood to walk, we are located just a few short blocks from the beautiful Fernandina beaches. Or if you’re looking to explore more of the island, our Amelia Island hotel offers a free shuttle from 9am – 9pm daily and can take you anywhere on the island and pick you up!

If you’re just ready for good old fun and fireworks, Amelia Island Florida will not disappoint! The Light Up Amelia 4th of July Festival in Downtown Fernandina Beach is a pie eating, music lovin’, parade watching, pet friendly, fireworks spectacular! The celebration begins at 6pm with The Parade and fireworks kick off at 9:30pm. Admission to the festival is free to the public.

Sunday afternoon (July 5th), The Residence Inn on Amelia Island will have a special treat when Lauri from the Turtle Talk & Walk will return for Shell Art at 6pm! Guests will enjoy creating ocean-themed art from shells that Lauri has collected from our beaches. Fun for all ages!

Fins Up! Don’t forget that Sunday July 5th also marks the start of SHARK WEEK! At 8pm embark on a mission with expert Greg Skomal to find out why great white shark sightings in Florida are on the rise. It’s the biggest study ever of Atlantic great whites!
