Amelia Island comes alive with the holidays and the fun begins today! After filling up on some Thanksgiving goodies explore the island and find out all the unique experiences and sights you and your family can enjoy. Below is a guide to some of our favorites!

Arrival of the S.S. Amelia Gingerbread Ship at Ritz Carlton – Beginning November 23 you can stop in to see a holiday icon that everyone looks forward to every year. S.S. Amelia is hand crafted complete with pirate characters sculpted from chocolate.

After checking out the world’s largest gingerbread ship head over to catch the Ritz Carlton 20th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30pm, where thousands of sparkling lights cover the resort for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The ceremony will offer refreshments, entertainment by local community groups and The Amelia Islanf Chamber Music Festival Brass Quintet. Your evening will conclude with Santa’s arrival and fireworks!

After a long day with full-bellies rest up so you can start your Black Friday in Downtown Fernandina at the local shops for their Annual Pajama Party. Stores will open their doors to eager shoppers starting at 9am with sidewalk sales and plenty of unique and wonderful Christmas gifts! Starting at 10 am you can enjoy live music on South 2nd Street along with a variety of family friendly fun. Don’t forget to stop by the photo booth in the pocket park on Centre to get your first Christmas photo.

Head back downtown on Saturday afternoon for the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration. Festivities will include local vendors, dance, aerial, and music performances, s’mores with Pirates, and photos with Santa! At 6 pm you will watch as they unveil the Christmas Tree and illuminate the town with holiday excitement.

With so much to do on our little slice of island heaven there’s no wonder as to why people come back again and again. #LoveAmelia #RIAIDiscoverUs
