Pristine beachesThe mild winter of northeast Florida is on its way, which may mean not as much fun in the sun at the beach, but there’s still plenty to do during your Amelia Island vacation! Much of the island is still untouched and as pristine as the time before Ponce de Leon landed on the shores of Florida. Fort Clinch State Park, located just a few miles from Residence Inn Amelia Island, is a gorgeous place to visit and has something for everyone. With its rolling dunes, tree lined roads, and long stretches of beach it is a perfect place for the avid mountain biker or for just a casual cruise. The paths are also perfect for long walks under the shade of live oaks and spanish moss. The half mile long pier is great for fishermen or just to get a beautiful perspective of the island. The actual fort is located on the very north end of the island, and is lots of fun to tour. During most weekends, the fort has volunteers who dress as soldiers during the Civil War and give tours and information of what life was like in the late 1800′s. The fort also has a great general store and gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs of your visit. Fort Clinch State Park is just one of many beautiful places to explore on the island! We hope you will come to visit us this winter and see for yourself. Visit our website to see all the details of our place and other activities on the island. We look forward to seeing you!
