Coming to Amelia Island for the holiday? We’ve got a list of great events and activities to celebrate this weekend.

1. If you’re a history buff and lover of everything outdoors, you’ll enjoy the program to honor the men and women who served in World War ll this weekend at Fort Clinch State Park. From pristine almost-private beaches to the historic fort and museum, there’s something for everyone to do in the park. For more information about this weekend’s events in the park and for pricing, visit www.floridastateparks.org.

2. The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival will host the Dover Quartet Concert at the Historic Nassau County Courthouse this Saturday from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. The Dover Quartet rose to international fame when they won the 2013 Banff International String Competition and critics have praised the group calling them “a pure delight…astonishing to hear.” You can read more of their story here: www.ameliaislandchambermusicfestival.com.

3. Join our local growers and farmers at this weekend’s Fernandina Beach Farmers Market! This Saturday in Historic Downtown Fernandina from 9am – 1pm, join the locals, purchase homemade goods and get the freshest produce the island has to offer.

4. Guests of the Residence Inn on Amelia Island can enjoy several activities this weekend at the hotel. Friday night we will be hosting a Turtle Talk & Beach Walk at 7:30pm. We’ll talk about our native sea turtles in our David Yulee meeting room and after the talk, we’ll head to the beach to look for marked nesting sites and discuss how & when the eggs will hatch. Then, guests can head back to the hotel just before sunset to enjoy our fire pit on the Tides Terrace and maybe a cold drink from our Market!

On Saturday, we’ll be hosting a Chillin’ & Grillin’ event on the Terrace. After observing a moment of silence in honor of those who have given their lives for our country, our wonderful catering staff will be grilling hot dogs and serving watermelon, sno-cones & fresh popped popcorn. Also, as a special treat, Lauri from the Turtle Talk returns to create ocean-themed shell sculptures. Fun for all ages!

5. Relax by our pool, take a stroll on the greenway or get your feet sandy at the beach. If you’re in the mood to walk, we are located just a short 3 blocks from the beautiful Fernandina beaches. Or if you’re looking to explore more of the island, we offer a free shuttle from 9am – 9pm daily and can take you anywhere on the island and pick you up!

No matter what you decide to do on Amelia Island, we know you’ll have a great time with us!
